excellent introduction to esoteric biblical interpretation

If your goal is to step beyond the surface and into true esoteric interpretation, this book is an excellent place to start. In a style which is much easier to read than other esoteric texts, the author helps to unveil the hidden meanings within the bible which are ultimately its truest message. By incorporating classic Kabbalah, gnosticism (a kabbalistic originator of christianity) and theosophical renderings, complicated subjects are broached. Do not read this book if you are looking for something academic or conversational. This book is for the true spiritual seeker.

The author of the Secret Teachings of Moses has been able to unveil the true meaning of Moses's teachings by explaining the scriptures and how to read them in accordance to the Tree of Life. This book can change your perspective of how to read all scripture that is of this world. We can now understand there are multiple and multidimensional layers that we need to meditate profoundly upon to obtain true comprehension. When we read in the Bible the name of God, we need to ask ourselves in what form is God speaking to us. Only in this way can we start to understand the message that is trying to be conveyed. This is the gift that Aunel va Daath has given us through his work. This book is for beginners or those that are more advanced in esoteric studies. Good code examples, editing sometimes not so good

On page viii of this book the author writes: "If you are a seasoned Objective-C programmer who wants to learn Swift, or if you are an enthusiastic developer without any prior experience in developing iOS apps, this book is for you." In my opinion that first phrase is true, but I believe many programmers who know nothing of Swift or Xcode will find it tough going. In the first project for example, on page 30 the author wants you to lay out a button and the text fields and labels from looking at a skeletal mockup. If you're an Objective-C programmer you'll know how to do this. If you're not, most likely you'll have to look at the code on the next page to figure out how many text fields and how many labels he wants.
Elsewhere, when you're supposed to enter new code, the book has that code in a monospace font. Again, coders new to Swift may wish that the author would sometimes be more explicit about where he intends for that code to be entered. On page 48 he doesn't tell you to import UIKit; you have to look at his github code to see that.
Another way code entry could be improved is on page 43. The author has you make three long calls to a function before he has you declare the function; hence, you get no auto-complete.
Now the positive. The apps you build in this book are not trivial. The author stresses code reusability and flexibility and lays out his programs accordingly. He frequently uses extensions to good effect. The author also doesn't give you simplistic apps and then promise you that you're ready for the App Store. On page 107 he writes that creating an app is not "straightforward." His realism is refreshing.
In the later examples in this book, the author shows you how to import and use CocoaPods.
I'm giving this book four stars because it seems obvious to me that the author is an accomplished coder and his example programs are well-structured.
On the publisher side, this book could be better. The author can be excused if he's not a native English speaker, but the publisher's editors should have corrected puzzling language use, not to mention the liberal, almost random sprinkling of commas into the text.

Micro-goodness

“Maikro” presents us with ninety-nine haikus and thirty-four works of micro-fiction. As a poet myself, I know how difficult it is to create a successful and an emotionally accessible haiku, but Mr. Fowler proves he’s quite adept at his craft.

His poetic works begin and center on the concept of motion in nature: sunlight and shifting sand, wandering clouds, sudden bursts of bird wings, and Earth’s slow rotation into darkness and moonlit skies. Halfway through his collection, the overall dynamic transitions into the speculative realm. Mutants and steampunkesque humanoids pulsate with oil and radioactive blood. Two favorites of mine are “statue on duty / gleaming mechanical man / winks at passerby,” and “vampyres are breeding / sewers and subway tunnels / springtime underground.”

His fiction is quick and energetic. Works range from six-word and one to two-sentence stories into works peaking at about one hundred words. Once again, he offers us unexpected tales rooted in science fiction and fantasy. I loved “Mimecry,” a tiny, odd story about the narrator’s aversion to clowns and tender fascination with mimes. “That one at the park with the tear painted on his cheek?... He imagines the whole world contained within a single blue teardrop. And he sheds one all his own.”

This collection is great for lovers of genre poetry and fiction. I really enjoyed it.

EVOCATIVE AND HAUNTING

Like the Bonsai tree, haiku and micro fiction evoke primarily contemplation (for the viewer or reader) and the pleasant exercise of effort and ingenuity (for the grower or writer).

The essence of haiku is "cutting" (kiru). Likewise with micro fiction and the Bonsai Tree. All three places limits on the author. Done poorly, the cutting produces ugliness. Done well, the cutting process produces beauty that makes the viewer look up to reflect on the impact and implications.

Milo James Fowler falls in the latter category. He makes you pause, reflect, or simply revel in the imagery.

True love never runs smooth, especially at eighteen. Sam and Ryan have been best friends since they met in school years ago. Now Ryan is heading out of state for college and Sam is looking at attending culinary school. Ryan is in love with Sam and convinced his best friend is straight while Sam is devastated Ryan is leaving. As the two spend every waking moment together before Ryan's departure, Sam comes to realize his feelings for Ryan are definitely more than just friendship. But their first attempt at romance ends disastrously, sending Ryan off to school and Sam convinced their friendship is over.

Things I'll Never Say is a coming of age love story between best friends turned lovers, Sam and Ryan. This is an incredibly romantic story about finding your soul mate as a kid and that changing into true love once older. Both Sam and Ryan are well characterized but they're also very young and immature. Sam reacts horribly and childishly to the tone of Ryan's innocent comment, which sends Sam into a tailspin. Although the story conveys the deep emotions of the two men, pining away for each other, loving the other with the certain hope nothing will ever come of it, the light touch to the writing helps keep this from being too clich� or annoying.

Romantics are likely to really adore and devour this story since it's so sweet and harmless. It has a strong happy ending and gives both young men lives, interests, and an identity beyond their youthful longing for each other. Sam is a budding chef and Ryan is going to college so they'll no doubt grow and mature naturally over the course of their lives. Their drama is mostly emotional as they despair over lost love and things they assume they could never have. The intensity of their emotions feels honest for their age, yet it's sweet and engaging.

The solid writing creates a fun, interesting story that is incredibly sweet and romantic with flawed characters that are inexperienced and somewhat immature. That's not surprising given their background and age so I doubt many readers will hold this against them. Imagine teenagers as they pour out bad poetry to high pitched ballads and this sets the tone but with a light hand that makes it enjoyable and not eye rolling. I easily recommend this to romance fans who I think will be highly satisfied with the story.

Things i'll never say

I loved this story! If your a sucker for a good romance then this is for you. It may be a little predictable, but our hearts tend to go in that direction in these stories anyway. They both love each other but they dont dare tell each other for fear of losing their friendship. A great read that wont disappoint. :)

Best Friend Soul Mate story

As with my review of her other book, "Unintended", I recommend "Things I'll Never Say" if you are looking for a light read about two 18 year old guys.

Sam and Ryan have been best friends since they were 10 and have basically been inseparable ever since. Sam's parents are high society socialites who are hardly ever at home and don't give Sam much attention at all. Ryan has basically been living with him a majority of the time. Ryan is going off to college in Seattle and Sam is staying in LA. Sam is dreading Ryan leaving for school - he doesn't know what he'll do without his best friend. Ryan chose to go out of state to college because he has been in love with Sam since what feels like forever and he doesn't dare ruin their bond by admitting his feelings. So, he thinks getting away will help him get over his feelings for Sam.

The night before Ryan leaves for Seattle changes everything...

Didn't give it 5 stars simply because of length and when compared to Amy Lane or Mary Calmes the writing is simplistic and predictable. I'm not saying it wasn't a good story or good writing. It just has to be appreciated for its simplicity and aww moments.

Couldnt ask for more!

usually i complain in these reviews, but this one time i found it neccesary to write a positive note. My college offered the product used for $70, i got this in next to pefect condition for $10, i dont want perfect because i wont use it after college. But it wasnt even crimped at the edges, i got what i paid for, and saved over the college price, the delivery was effecient too, i needed it for class and my college didnt tell me til the first day of the class, i needed it within 2 weeks, i chose the cheaper shipping option and still got it that week to double check it was the right copy/edition or the book and make adjustments if not. The book had a plain cover with the a copy of the original stuck on the front, but who cares? thanks a bunch [...]

Jeff Doyle, CCIE No. 1919, is a professional services engineer and IPv6 solutions manager. Specializing in IP routing protocols, MPLS, and IPv6, Jeff has designed or assisted in the design of large-scale carrier and services provider networks in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Jennifer Carroll, CCIE No. 1402, is an indepedent network consultant in Redmond, WA. She has designed and implemented many TCP/IP networks and has developed and taught a variety of courses on routing protocols and Cisco routers.

5 stars from what I have read so far. I should have gotten this book sooner!

Full disclosure, I haven't finished the book yet. I have read the Sybex CCNA books, Cisco CCNP related books and other books from Cisco Press on other topics, Security, VOIP etc. For an introduction to Cisco, the Sybex CCNA Study Guide by Todd Lammle I think is great, but I really needed something that would dig in and explain routing protocols in depth. Most of Cisco Press puts me to sleep after a few pages, but on the shelf or desk of just about every network engineer I work with is a copy of Routing TCP/IP, Volume 1 (1st Edition). That title seemed to be the defacto standard for all network engineers, and even some engineers that weren't network engineers, so I decided to pick up a copy only to be surprised that it had been updated with a second edition. I figured I'd start at the beginning, when a situation at work dictated that I jump into some specific routing protocols. I found that this book was what I was hoping it'd be. The authors explain things in such a way that the light bulb went off on the inner workings of the protocol. I found I was getting the in-depth knowledge I needed, not just a gloss over and how to configure the protocol at a basic level. The authors somehow manage to provide a wealth of information, without it just looking like they dumped the Cisco Whitepages on a page. It's definitely a technical book, but the information is provided in such a manner that you feel engaged and want to keep reading more. I'm currently going over OSPF, and there are approximately 80+ pages just going over the details of OSPF before the authors even get into how to configure OSPF. And that's just OSPFv2. There is a separate chapter for OSPfv3. It's a hefty book at approximately 800 pages, but the authors are really presenting a lot of material in a human readable format. Translation, you don't have to be a Uber Network Engineer to understand this book. To that I attribute the skill of the authors in relaying the information. I intend the read the full book, but for now I specifically need to concentrate on OSPF and BGP. (BGP is going to be covered in the soon to be released Routing TCP/IP, Volume 2 (2nd Edition) by the same authors and I'll be picking up as soon as it's out. If you are beyond CCNA level or want to move beyond CCNA level, get this book. It's a great for learning and will be a great reference or study guide for any of the routing exams. You won't regret this book.

Best IP Routing Protocol out there!

Well considering EIGRP does more than just IP my title is wrong, but there isn't I can say about this book that hasn't been said already. I've worked with pretty heavily with every routing protocol jumping in and out of customer networks and I really believe this book helped me the most. Each chapter goes over protocol is great detail everything from the forming adjacency, to metric calculations, and even packet formats. You might thing packet formats are unnecessary but when your running tcpdump to troubleshoot an OSPF adjancency you'll be happy you understand what your looking at.

This is a book I've read over and over, and one I constantly refer back. I can say with certainty this is one book I don't mind paying for twice. I bought it for my kindle as well as the physical book since it's that good.

Great for CCNA

This book is great for CCNA prep. It is NOT for easy glossing over of concepts. You really need to be interacting with equipment (or a good simulator) to appreciate the information here. There is a lot that is uncovered and as you learn more, you'll find yourself going back to those same sections and learning more that you didn't appreciate the first (or second) time around.

The book is big, but not wasteful. I hate seeing other books that brag about some number of pages (usually 1000 is the magic mark) only to find half of it is huge table of contents, summary after summary, or ridiculously large indexes. Not that kind of wasted space here.

My only caveat is the rather large section on IS-IS. This could be seen as a waste for those not using it. I wouldn't be surprised if this section is much smaller in future editions.

If you're going for in-depth knowledge for CCNA (not just enough to pass the exam, but understanding concepts), this book is a keeper.
