Intense Obsessed Love!

We all want something sometime that you can't have. We all dream once in a while of someone to love you that is rich and obsessed. If so then this is the book for you. Fall in love with the Beth & Daniel as they find their way to each other and rationalize all of their crazy behaviors. Daniel is great boyfriend, who wanted to make me slap him to open his eyes at some points and then have him tie me up in others! The crazy and intense way he loves Beth, makes you want him to love you like that. I loved the writing and the characters that were included. These characters help to give the book details that helped you understand their pain, love and the ultimate price. I could not wait to read book three in the triology. Loved it!

I'm sittiing here trying to write this review with tears running down my face. I have so many emotions tossing aroused my head that this will sound like I haven't lost my mind! I didn't think it was possible for the second book to be better! So wrong! We continue right where the first book left us which I loved. Daniel and Bethany have so many trust issues that just when you think their love for each other is stronger than anything that comes their way trouble once again rears its. Ugly self and choices are made that breaks your heart. I am so happy the complete trilogy is available.I couldn't survive waiting! If you haven't bought the first book do not read this first. If you like a great adult story that has the hottest love scenes then get this now this is my first time reading Dee Palmer and it will not be my last!

I honestly don't even know where to begin... It was a struggle to even write a review before I started on the third one.. I just finished the book and I'm dying with the way it ends... I won't spoil it for anyone but it was hard not to dive into the next one! Once again I'm sucked into Bethany and Daniel and some of his dumb decisions that make you want to punch him but swoon at the same time. It's honestly hard to believe how much I love these characters and want to be in the book with them, maybe smack some sense into them both! It has such an amazing story line and I CAN NOT wait to see where it goes next.. I can't get enough of Daniel. I'm off now to dive right into the next one! Read these books, you'll be happy you did!

Comfort food, in all of its forms; a great Oliver read

If you are a fan of Jamie Oliver and his style, this book won't disappoint, though the recipes cover a vast span of what defines as "comfort food". This is not your american comfort food book; it covers cuisine from lots of other cultures and I would assume that the idea of comfort food, like with all food, remains in the eye of the beholder. I will say that just looking at the pictures is enough to leave me hungry and hankering to jump into the recipes. Jamie's personality shines through the book, which is great since he brings sincere caring, humor, and a bit of unedited stream of thought to the table.

A fine cookbook, and a great read.

For me, without a doubt Jamie’s best book to date

If you can’t tell from the title of this review, I am so very impressed by this book. I own a lot of Jamie’s other books and certainly do like them, but I love this one for so many reasons…

I have posted a more in-depth review below as well as a full recipe list at the very end of this review but for those out there (and I know there are many of you) that want a quick summary of what’s hot and what’s not about this book, these first few paragraphs are for you.

What I LOVE about this book:

-The feel of the book, a small thing to some but the textured hard cover is lovely as are the individual recipe pages on good quality paper.
-The recipe images, there is an abundance for every single recipe, they are informative and inspiring (please see image uploads to see what I mean).
-The recipe formats and layout – you instantly see at the left of each recipe:
Number of servings
Time to make
Calories per serving
-Jamie’s intro at the beginning of each recipe, full of enthusiasm and instantly explains what the recipe is if unsure (a Pierogi is ‘basically a Polish boiled dumplin’… news to me!).
-The nutritional section at the back of the book, I always like to know the nutritional value of what I’m eating, it won’t spoil my chocolate brownie but it will make me balance my nutrition or exercise accordingly for the rest of the day.
-The recipes themselves are all dishes I WANT to and CAN make. See the recipe list at the end for yourself as this is pure opinion but these dishes are all my family’s kind of food and there is a great variety.

If you are not familiar with Jamie Oliver and his books I’d recommend trying out the trial recipes which are posted on The Times Newspaper’s website if you have access, at the moment there are 8 on there which, when you consider the book contains 100 recipes, it’s a great example of the type and styles of recipes in the book and it’s what we did.

Now normally in the first few paragraphs I’d write about things I dislike or I think could be improved with the book. Here I am struggling, really struggling. It’s sincerely everything I personally would want for in this type of book about comfort food; a nice variety of great looking food, with easy to follow conversational methods as well as hundreds of great images to inspire and educate. I sincerely don’t know what to put here for negatives. The book does, in my opinion, exactly what Jamie sets out for it to do, it’s a book I will definitely reach for when I want to make a weekend treat.

Ok and now for my even more in-depth review for those that are still with me, which I feel I must caveat with a statement about how I always try to look for constructive improvements a book / author can make for the reader, but sincerely in this instance it really is all positives, hence the 5 stars, I would wholeheartedly recommend it to Jamie Oliver fans and comfort food fans alike.

Firstly, as I mentioned previously, the book is a delight to behold, with a textured cover (I have uploaded a few images of this and a typical recipe page on this amazon product page!) and as with all of Jamie’s books that I have purchased, which is most of them now, the images from page to page are absolutely beautiful.

With there ‘only’ being 100 recipes in this rather thick book, you can see how multiple pages are dedicated to one recipe and with that are beautiful images as well as some great tips and information from Jamie every now and again.

This combination of images and great information (all with the usual great design and fonts Jamie puts into his books), make Comfort Food an absolute joy to browse and read even if not intending to cook from it anytime soon.

The book is split into the following 6 main recipe sections:

Nostalgia
Good Mood Food
Pick Me Ups
Ritual
Guilty Pleasures
Sweet Indulgence

Within each section there is a great variety of recipes so if looking for something specific it might be best to use the index at the back of the book. Worth noting the index has a nice touch whereby it marks recipes that are suitable for vegetarians with a ‘v’.

Where on earth Jamie gets his inspiration and invention from is beyond me considering we own at least eight of his books and have yet to feel like there are any repeats or rehashes from other books.

There is also a nutrition section at the back of the book, which lists calories, fat, saturates, carbs and sugar for every recipe. At the end of the nutrition section it acknowledges that the nature of comfort food means the recipes are often indulgent, but as a reader I sincerely appreciate just being informed on what I am eating.

Now on to the main thing for me with any book, the recipe pages and trials of the recipes.

The recipe pages are laid out in a great manner for me, as mentioned before each lists number of servings, prep time and calories. The first two certainly help when flicking through for inspiration and considering when I want to make these meals. Though most I think would be made on a weekend owing to their indulgent nature, there are plenty around the 30 / 40 minute mark if you wanted to do some mid-week too.

We actually did the chicken tikka masala mid-week and it was very true to time (I’m usually a little slow to prep anyway but the recipe states 1hr 20mins and I was about 1hr 30mins after having marinating overnight), and more importantly it was delicious. The recipe states serves 6 – 8 and it did 4 adults and two hungry teenagers comfortably.

My wife also baked the peanut butter and jelly brownies, as big fans of peanut butter in our household these were nothing short of phenomenal, it seems so obvious that nuts and chocolate work so well together but these really worked better than we had hoped and a real hit.

Well in summary, I really do think this book is fantastic. I expected it to be good as we have continued to like all of Jamie’s books and always find ourselves going back to them, I have no doubt we will do the same with this one but I will post an update in a few weeks’ time with how we get on.

Episcopal priest Mother Grey continues her mission to her church, St Bede's, and her town, Fishersville NJ. Murders keep getting in the way, however. And wonder of wonders, her nemesis Father Bingley is very helpful, though unwittingly. Most of the people encountered in Bury the Bishop show up again here, joined by some new ones, such as an oily dealer in semi-antiques. And if only Mother Grey had been able to convince Saraleigh that 2 children by 2 different fathers were enough. Lord help us.

Craig H. Hart (Ph.D., Purdue University, 1987)is Professor and Chair of the Marriage, Family, and Human Development department at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. What is bullying?
Bullying is aggression carried out repeatedly by an individual (or group) who has more power than the individual who is being victimized and wants to demonstrate this power to the victimized person or to other people. The power arises within the relationship between the person bullying ad the person being bullied. But it also comes from peer bystanders, who are almost always present during bullying episodes. Bullying is a relationship that is characterized by disrespect. -Bullying Prevention (Chapter 1)

Bullying Prevention is a must read for both parents as well as kids and teens. It's a short read at 51 pages, however, it's packed full of useful information. This book highlights the different types of bullying, where bullying is likely to happen, myths, facts, and solutions, bullying in preschool and beyond, resolving bullying, what to do if you are the parent of a bully, and much more.

The book is laid out in a simple manner and I really liked the index that they provide on the bottom of each page so you can easily skip to certain sections in the book. Bullying has always been around and always will be, especially in the digital age where it's easier to anonymously bully someone. I've been a victim of bullying both in my school years and then again much later in life as an adult. I can honestly tell you that children who bully almost always grow to be adults who bully and this is why we need to learn how we can handle and prevent bullying in the early years. Especially with so many kids committing suicide due to being the victim of a vicious bully or group of bullies.

This book was written specifically for parents, to give them the information they need, however, I think it's a vital tool in teaching for councilors, teachers, day care workers, coaches, and even the kids themselves.

Very informative book, every parent needs to read!

We don’t want to think of our child being bullied, or being the bully, But bullying is a problem that any and all parents need to be aware of, even concerned about. Bullying touches most children and teens at some point in their lives. But bullying isn’t only in school-aged children, adults get bullied too. This book is a great read on learning about bullying, why children, teens and adults bully and what you can do to help children who are being bullied. There is also a good bit of resources at the end of this book.

We all know bullying is around, we all see it in the TV shows that we watch, even in the movies. But did you know that even with all of the research done and government involvement trying to stop bullying that it is still a MAJOR problem? Something you may not have even thought about is what exactly is bullying? Bullying is a relationship problem and the solutions to bullying come from making changes in a relationship.

The first chapter of this book talks about what bullying is, the different types of bullying that there are, and how bullying is a warm up for some long term relationship problems. This chapter also tells you about where most of the bullying happens and with the different age groups. All of these topics lead into the 2nd Chapter that explains why you should worry about bullying. Another topic is about how any child or teen can be involved in bullying, and that there is no typical profile for bullying. There is some explanation as to why some children may be bullying others and how worrying about the bullying now and in the future can help you and your children.

The Third Chapter is full of so many myths along with solutions! I am not going to give those away here, though. ;) Chapters 4-6 talk about Bullying with different ages. There is bullying as early as preschool, in elementary school and of course adolescents. The 7th Chapter goes into electronic bullying, what it is, and how to prevent it. Nowadays, everyone has phones, and especially those in high school and middle school. There are even apps now where people can post anonymously about other people. It is sad how much bullying goes on unseen, but so many that are damaged from bullying but never come forward for help. Some are too scared, some others think it will just get worse. It amazes me how much bullying goes unseen after reading this book, though. A lot that I would not have sat and thought about until now. This Chapter is one of the most important chapters in this book to myself. There are signs to help you hopefully see that your child may be being bullied electronically, or maybe they are even bullying someone else. There are some great ways to help the child being bullied or the child bullying in this chapter too.

The last few chapters of this book have some great ways to help a child or children who are being victimized by bullying. How to work with the school about the bullying going on. And how to remind the children of that golden rule that we are all taught little…

Treat others the same way that you want to be treated.

At the end of this book, ​there are some great resources to help. There are websites listed, books and even videos to check out.

For one, any parent should read this, I do not think I stated that enough in this posting. My son is only 4, and I have a step daughter that is 16. I have seen times with her when she was bullied at school and online by other children. I have the fear that my child could be bullied or unfortunately be the bully. But I can prevent him being the bully by having a great relationship with him and making sure he knows he can come to us for anything. Teaching him that golden rule and reminding him that you need to watch what you say and do to other people because it can really affect them in the long run. It is a very informative short read, take the time, take it to your mommy groups, everyone could use this information with their kids.

An excellent resource for anyone to have

I really like this book. I am a parent, but also a teacher. I am sad to say that I see a LOT of bullying and do not feel that enough is being done about it. As a past victim myself, I find it shocking that there is not more attempts from everyone to squash out the cruelty that can occur.

I received this book in both French and English copies to review, and found myself liking the way it was written. It was simple and straightforward. Everything you ever really wondered about is covered from the different types of bullying that exist (as there are many), different stages and ages and includes tips of how parents can work with the school.

This book introduces the fundamental concepts of electronic communications systems, data communications, and networks. Topics covered include wireless and wireline telecommunications systems, basic data communications networks and systems, local area networks, internetworks, and the Internet, including the TCP/IP protocol suite. The text describes how the networks themselves work; it does not describe how the software applications that utilize the network work.

Readers with previous knowledge in basic electronics, including fundamental digital concepts and binary number systems, will have little trouble understanding the topics presented. Each chapter contains numerous examples that emphasize the most important concepts presented. When appropriate, questions and problems are included at the end of each chapter, and answers to selected problems are provided at the end of the book. Chapters and topics within chapters do not need to be covered in the same sequence as they are presented in the book.

ORGANIZATION OF THE TEXT

Chapter 1 gives a brief history of data communications and introduces the fundamental concepts of data communications and networking. Topics covered include definitions of network architectures, topologies, classifications, and data communications protocols and standards. Several primary standards organizations are described along with a brief description of their purpose, including a description of the International Organization for Standardization Open System Interconnect protocol hierarchy. The fundamental components of a data communications circuit, including explanations of data communications circuit arrangements, are also described. This chapter also introduces fundamental network components (e.g., clients, servers, local and network operating systems, network models) and network classifications such as local and metropolitan area networks.

Chapter 2 gives a brief explanation of signal analysis for single-frequency sinusoids and complex repetitive waveforms. Electrical noise and interference are described along with the concept and significance of signal-to-noise ratio. This chapter also gives a brief explanation of conventional analog modulation systems, such as AM and FM. More common digital modulation techniques, such as frequency-shift keying and phase-shift keying, and how digital modulation relates to information capacity, bit rate, and baud are also discussed.

Chapter 3 presents the fundamental concepts of metallic transmission media, including the principles and characteristics of transverse electromagnetic wave propagation. The characteristics of the most common types of metallic transmission media are described, and a detailed explanation is given for the classifications used with standard shielded and unshielded twisted-pair cable. This chapter also includes descriptions of the losses typical to metallic cables.

Chapter 4 compares the advantages and disadvantages between metallic transmission media and optical fiber transmission media. The fundamental concepts of wave propagation over optical fiber cables are given, including explanations for velocity of propagation, refraction, reflection, and modes of propagation commonly used for propagating signals over optical fibers. This chapter also describes the losses typical to optical fiber cables, and optical sources and detectors.

Chapter 5 introduces the advantages and disadvantages of digital (pulse) transmission. The fundamental principles of pulse code modulation, including the concepts of quantization and digital companding, and the steps necessary to produce a basic DS-0 digital signal, are explained.

Chapter 6 describes how signals from multiple sources (both analog and digital) can be multiplexed to improve the capacity of a transmission medium. A detailed explanation is given on how DS-0 signals are combined into T -carrier systems capable of carrying information from thousands of sources simultaneously. This chapter also covers the basic principles of frequency- and wavelength-division multiplexing.

Chapter 7 describes the fundamental concepts of wireless communications systems, including free-space electromagnetic wave propagation. It also describes the basic principles of microwave and satellite radio communications systems.

Chapter 8 introduces the basic concepts of telephone instruments and signals. The operation of a basic telephone set is described along with descriptions of the call progress tones and signals associated with completing a basic telephone call.

Chapter 9 gives a detailed description of a typical telephone circuit, including local loops and trunk circuits. This chapter also describes the transmission parameters for private-line voice and data circuits, including descriptions of typical telephone circuit impairments.

Chapter 10 gives a detailed description of the public telephone network, including descriptions of central office switches and how they are interconnected in tandem to complete local and long-distance telephone calls. The pre- and post-divesture North American Telephone Switching Hierarchies as well as the Signaling System Number 7 (SS7) switching system are also discussed.

Chapter 11 describes the evolution and the fundamental concepts of cellular telephone systems, including descriptions of the basic concepts of cell splitting, frequency reuse, interference, roaming, and cellular telephone call processing. Chapter 12 expands the basic cellular concepts presented in Chapter 11, including descriptions of first- and secondgeneration personal communications systems (PCS). The basic concepts of analog and digital cellular telephone systems, including descriptions of AMPS, DAMPS, NAMPS EIA IS-54, IS-136, IS95, and TDMA and CDMA multiple-accessing technologies are also described.

Chapter 13 covers the fundamental concepts of data communications codes, asynchronous and synchronous data formats, and error control. Several means of providing error detection and correction, such as VRC, LCR, CRC, ARQ, and the Hamming code are described.

Chapter 14 introduces fundamental data communications hardware components, including descriptions of data terminal equipment and data communications equipment. The fundamental concepts of UARTs and USRTs are covered along with an introduction of serial interfaces and a detailed description of the RS-232 interface.

Chapter 15 expands the coverage of data terminal and data communications equipment. Data communications modems are explained with detailed descriptions for Bell System-compatible modem standards and current ITU-T modem recommendations. The AT command set is also described.

Chapter 16 gives a detailed description of the data-link protocols used on private data communications networks. Character- and bit-oriented protocols are defined and described along with their applications. Protocols described in detail include XMODEM, YMODEM, KERMIT, Bisync, SDLC, and HDLG.

Chapter 17 gives a detailed description of networking and internetworking fundamentals, including transmission formats, LAN topologies, and collision and broadcast domains. Detailed explanations of the common connectivity devices, such as repeaters, hubs, bridges, switches, routers, and gateways, how they affect collision and broadcast domains, and how they are interconnected to create networks and subnetworks are given.

Chapter 18 gives a detailed description of local area networks, including a comprehensive coverage of the IEEE 802 project. Topics include the various access control methodologies, such as multiple access, carrier sense multiple access, carrier sense multiple access with collision detect, and carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance. This chapter also includes detailed descriptions of the frame formats and operation of IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and Ethernet II, as well as current Ethernet technologies, such as switched Ethernet, 100 Mbps fast Ethernet, and 1000 Mbps Ethernet.

Chapter 19 introduces the TCP/IP protocol suite and Internet Protocol (IP) addressing. It includes detailed descriptions of the classes of IP addresses available on the global Internet and explains the differences between global, reserved, private, and broadcast addresses.

Chapter 20 gives a detailed description of how Glassful and classless networks, subnetworks, and supernetworks are formed, including a comprehensive coverage of subnet masks and how they are used to separate a network into subnetworks. Numerous examples are given to illustrate how subnet masks are used in modern IP-based networks. This chapter also describes supernetting and classless IP addressing.

Chapter 21 covers layer 3 networking protocols and gives detailed explanations of address resolution and the address resolution protocol (ARP). It also describes the format for an IP datagram, the functions of each field within the header, and IP options.

Chapter 22 gives a detailed description of Internet control management protocol (ICMP) and shows how ICMP messages are encapsulated within an IP datagram and used to carry diagnostic and error-reporting messages. This chapter emphasizes how ICMP is used to improve the performance of the Internet Protocol.

Chapter 23 introduces port numbers, sockets addresses, and transport-layer protocols. A detailed description is given for the user datagram protocol (UDP) and transmission control protocol (TCP), including the functions of the fields that make up each of their headers. This chapter gives a comparison between connectionless, unreliable and connection-oriented, reliable protocols.

Chapter 24 introduces IP version 6 (IPv6) and compares IPv6 to IPv4. Descriptions are given for hexadecimal colon notation, addressing types, and address allocation. IPv6 header fields, extensions, and extensions headers are described. ICMP version 6 is also described and compared to the current version, ICMPv4.

Chapter 25 describes configuration and domain name protocols, including dynamic host configuration protocol and domain name system. Detailed descriptions are given for the format for domain names and the process of domain resolution.

Chapter 26 introduces several application-layer protocols and the processes they perform. Protocols covered include Telnet, file transfer protocol, trivial file transfer protocol, simple mail transfer protocol, post office protocol, and hypertext transfer protocol.

Chapter 27 discusses integrated services data networks and broadband access technologies. Detailed descriptions are given for public-switched data networks, ISDN, and DSL. Value-added networks, switching networks, ATM, and the CCITT X.1 and X.25 protocols are also described.

One of the better textbooks I have read

I am a current online Electronic Engineering student taking a data communication class in my senior year. This book is seriously one of the better textbooks I have had in any class so far.

It is plainly written so you can easily follow along. The example problems in the middle of the chapters are very helpful in the understanding of the material. The end of chapter questions and problems are also, very helpful(even if the numbering is a bit confusing at first). The tables and timing diagrams are easy to read. The background of varying protocols are explained well before introducing the newer versions of those protocols.

Most technical classes are necessary to learn with face-to-face instruction along with the textbook. In an online environment, this is hard to come by. And, honestly, sometimes I struggle with that setup. This current class is almost all textbook learning
and was/am able to feel confident of what I have learned from this book and I had very little previous experience with this topic.

Let's be honest here, you probably will need to buy this book because it is course required. Don't worry, this book should get you through the class with minimal pain. I will be keeping this one on my bookshelf for a long time.

Excellent Book for Networking, but has an error.

The author does an excellent covering the various protocols of networking and the TCP/IP standards as well as IP addressing. The one fault is where he did not do his homework, he states on page 483, that "ZMODEM is a newer protocol that simply combines the features of XMODEM and YMODEM." This statement is not true. By going to [...] and viewing the webpage of the author of ZMODEM he would have discovered that ZMODEM was entirely rewritten by someone who was involved in the creation of YMODEM, but chose to disregard both protocols. It is an unfortunate oversight on his part.
Otherwise, I would recommend this book to anyone interested in networking.

Ion I. M?Andoiu, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of Connecticut. His research focuses on the design and analysis of exact and approximation algorithms for NP-hard optimization problems, particularly in the areas of bioinfor-matics and computational molecular biology, VLSI computer-aided design and manufacturing, and ad-hoc wireless networks.

Alexander Zelikovsky, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at Georgia State University. His research focuses on discrete algorithms and their applications in bio-technology, bioinformatics, VLSI computer-aided design, and wireless networks.
