This book is full of junk and garbage and very disorganized in the way its content is ...

Didn't read the reviews and I should have. This book is full of junk and garbage and very disorganized in the way its content is displayed. I cannot believe this guy survived in the outdoors except by luck because his information is just messed up. His pack weight must be at least 40-50 lbs with the stuff he carried or he was just a car or maybe a horse and carriage (by the stuff he mentions to use) camper. Lesson learned.

Utterly Disappointed

I was excited about this book as I received it in a monthly subscription box. Unfortunately, I was completely disappointed in this book. Another reviewer claimed that this book is heavy in plagiarism, and while I haven't researched enough to confirm, I will say that it would not surprise me. This book is a terribly cobbled together mess of works, some of which are decent, but most of which are mediocre at best and very dated. Even the good information is completely unorganized. Pass on this and buy a few higher rated books with newer information.

Her Best Book Yet

I just finished reading this book, and I absolutely love it. If you have read New Dawn, it is a similar story of a blending of multiple romances, only this is even better. It contains themes that are uncomfortable at times (domestic abuse) but Shalman handles them with poise and a really wonderful way of telling stories. I was happy, sad, impatient, overjoyed and in general completely satisfied with this book.
If you want to read a good story and wonderful writing, then I encourage you to pick up this book. You won't regret it.

To put it simply, I absolutely loved this book and look forward to reading many more by this author. This was a wonderful glimpse into historic African culture, with an intriguing storyline. I hated to see the book come to an end!

Once again, I am so happy that I read another of Naa Shalman's books. I think the lesson in this is that love comes in unexpected packages sometimes. If you open your heart and eyes it might be a very enjoyable experience. Old friends from New Dawn and Sound of the Drums reappeared in this book, which is always a pleasure. Another great book and love story. I didn't want it to end.

Practical Advice, delivered with wit and insight

Robert Jolles has written a very readable and practical book on the ins and outs, the do's and don'ts of running seminars. He knows of what he speaks, as he has substantial scar tissue as a trainer for Xerox and as a self-employed training consultant. He has directed numerous "train the trainer" courses. Jolles has wit and insight and can help you avoid some common mistakes.

Much of the book, particularly toward the end, deals with the unique setting of corporate trainers and those who train other trainers. Personally, I found this less useful. Those looking for business advice on how to run and market seminars may also be disappointed, since that is not a focus of Jolle's book.

Worth perhaps the price of the book alone is Jolle's advice on how to go about writing a book. One of his early central ideas is that becoming an author of the book is nearly essential for establishing credibility for running your own seminars, workshops, and some of our business. He offers practical and excellent tips that have worked for him in being able to write a book and establish solid credibility.

If you are involved in delivering training programs, either in-house in a corporate setting or as an individual entrepreneur, this book is essential reading!

Good Book for Designing Seminars

I am a former full-time trainer for JD Edwards (a big software company) and thought I knew everything about running seminars. But after I read Robert Jolles' book, I realized that there is a lot more to it than just standing in front of a group of people with a Powerpoint presentation and flipchart and talking about a subject.

This book offers the reader valuable tips on preparing for and delivering great seminars. Delivery is the key. Audiences are more demanding than ever and their time is valuable. One goal of a seminar leader is to entertain, not just teach.

Jolles makes the point in his book that conducting successful seminars is not just about transferring knowledge. It is about setting a pace, capturing the attention of an audience, and finishing with a positive end result.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about doing seminars or workshops.
